Cup win for TUFC Women
Torquay United Women defeat Plympton Ladies
A superb second-half display ensured Torquay United Women booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup with a 5-2 defeat of Plympton Ladies.
After a sluggish start, the Gulls responded to an early goal from Plympton at Coach Road with Kate Kane levelling the scores. Plympton edged in front again, Tee Kaptein the next Gull to restore parity from the penalty spot.
Crucially, United sneaked a 3-2 lead at the half-time interval, another from Kaptein, and the second period was a far more assured performance. Kaptein completed her hat-trick and victory was sealed by a fine goal from Emily Elliott.
On the men’s side of the club, United played at Buckland Athletic in the St Luke’s Devon Cup on Tuesday and Homers Heath will also be the venue for the next round of the FA Youth Cup, with the young Gulls taking on Truro City U18s on Monday, September 30.
