South Devon star set to shine for England in the Euros
The Euros are almost upon us and England have a South Devon star in their ranks.
Born in Torquay and brought up in Newton Abbot, striker Ollie Watkins attended South Dartmoor Community College in Ashburton, while learning his game in the Exeter City Academy.
Watkins eventually graduated to become a pro with the Grecians, where his sparkling form led to a move to Brentford. He was named Championship Player of the Year in 2020 after a superb goalscoring season.
Aston Villa swooped with a then club-record fee of £28m and the boy from the Bay progressed to win his first England cap in 2021.
While captain Harry Kane is sure to lead the forward line for England in the Euros, Watkins could be a crucial factor from the bench, and any success he enjoys will feel extra special for his friends and family back home in South Devon.
