Roddy Collins joins Torquay United

Roddy Collins has signed for Torquay United on a one-year deal and he brings a famous name to Plainmoor.

A versatile midfielder, Roddy is the nephew of world champion boxer Steve Collins and his dad, also called Roddy, is one of the most famous names in League of Ireland football, both as a player and manager.

Roddy Junior, 29, spent the early years of his career in Ireland, starring for Monaghan United, Athlone Town, Derry City, Drogheda and Waterford before moving to England with a spell at Hemel Hempstead Town.

Collins then spent time with Hayes & Yeading and Kings Langley but his most recent stint at Chesham United really caught the attention, as his engine room exploits helped Chesham secure promotion to the National League South.
