Supporters' Trust believed to be down the pecking order at Plainmoor
A new Torquay United regime with former boss Neil Warnock to guide the on-pitch revival is NOT believed to be the way forward chosen by the administrators now running the club.
The Gulls announced on Tuesday that a ‘preferred bidder’ to take over the club had been selected by administrators Begbies Taylor, but they declined to reveal who the ‘winners’ are.
Nobody had made a formal statement on Tuesday evening, but the Torbay Weekly understands that the consortium put together by South Devon businessman Mike Westcott, backed by the Torquay United Supporters Trust (TUST) and with Warnock on board has not been picked.
They had been the first and most public candidate to become the new owners, stressing the potential role of TUST in a future regime.
It isn’t clear when the preferred bidders will be announced, against a still-tense background as United, with three games to go, battle to stay in the National League South.
Whoever has been selected by the administrators has presumably satisfied them that they are best-placed, financially and from an expertise point of view, to satisfy any creditors and take the club forward.
