Bogtastic Powderham running for Torbay athletes

Torbay AAC were out and about around the West Country this weekend. Nadine Lee and Cassandra Harrison raced in The Powderham 10k. Nadine described it as ‘an absolute bogtastic race’.

It was a great course with some stunning views across the estuary. Nadine finished 8th female and 1st in category. Iaen Sell and Ian Sharrock did the five-mile route, Iaen finished 3rd mv60 in a time of 45:29 and Ian Sharrock 54:00.

On Saturday, Gemma Radcliffe took part in The Trilateral 40 a 40km (25mile-ish) trail run organised by Purple Gecko Events. The mixed terrain route starts in Fowey and follows part of the Saints Way through Golant to Helman Tor and then on to Par and Gribbin Head returning to Fowey.

Due to the continual rain, many of the trails were extremely muddy and skiing skills along the coast path were welcome. Covering over 4,500ft of elevation, the course is challenging but a lovely route. Anthony Raine did the Exe to Axe on Sunday.

The notoriously tough course was made more challenging with Storm Kathleen bringing howling winds and muddy conditions. Anthony completed the 22.7 miles with nearly 5,000ft of ascent and finished in 74th position in 4hrs 36mins.

Torbay runners Karen and Paul Frissen took part in the Berlin Half Marathon, it was a great event with 39,000 runners taking part on closed roads, there was a surprise in the weather and it turned into a hot day (20°).

The organisers supplied plenty of water and advice about the unexpected temperature. The spectator crowds were awesome around the whole route. Karen finished in 2:08:25 and Paul completed the course in 1:52:30. They also completed the only Parkrun in Berlin on Saturday morning.
