Devon senior cricketers join national campaign
Senior cricketers from Devon are invited to join their counterparts from across the country in a walk dedicated to raise funds and awareness for The Bob Willis Fund and Prostate Cancer UK.
Taking place on Saturday, April 20, the walk will be from South Devon Cricket Club Newton Abbot to Bovey Tracey Cricket Club, mainly following the cycle track from Jetty Marsh via Teigngrace and Stover, a distance of approximately five-and-a-half miles.
Participants will meet at South Devon Cricket at 10:15am for a 10:30 start. Organiser Ron Hedley, who is part of the Buckinghamshire Over 60s and 70s cricketing family and has already raised over £30,000 for these vital charities, will be there to distribute T-shirts and support to participants.
Expected arrival at Bovey Tracey CC will be 1pm where members of their cricket club will provide refreshments for the participants. Bovey are also playing a pre-season friendly on the day, so a chance to rest the legs with some cricket to savour.
The walk invitation is aimed at Seniors in the Over 60 and 70 bracket, but all are welcome to offer support. More details are available from Andrew Rose on devonseniorstreasurer@gmail.com
