Bryony back at her favourite race

Five years on from her breakout moment in the world of horse racing, Devon jockey Bryony Frost returned to the same iconic race at the Cheltenham Festival.

In 2019, Bryony famously steered the wonderful Frodon to an amazing victory in the Grade One Ryanair Chase, a success that propelled horse and rider to the top echelons of the sport.

Sadly for Frost, who is the daughter of acclaimed former jockey and trainer Jimmy, her career in the saddle has endured a few bumps since them, including serious back injury and a protracted legal  case against fellow jockey Robbie Dunne, who was found guilty of subjecting her to a prolonged campaign of bullying.

Frodon recently retired and, mainly because of the injury, Frost fell down the pecking order for trainer Paul Nicholls but she returned at the Festival for hopefully the first step in a gallop back to the top.

Riding the 40/1 outsider Hitman in the Ryanair Chase, Bryony finished a respectable eighth in a tough race that was eventually won by Protektorat, trained by Dan Skelton and owned by Sir Alex Ferguson.

As for Bryony Frost, she was back in the big time, and long may that continue.
