Victory for Torquay United Women

Torquay United Women completed a weekend of celebration for female sport with a superb 3-0 victory at Selsey WFC in the FA Women’s National League SW.

Player-manager Tracey Cross opened the scoring on 14 minutes, calmly slotting home a clever cutback from Emily Eaton, and the Gulls doubled their lead when substitute Georgia Chapman finished neatly after a fine pass from Ocean Latto.

Cross returned the earlier favour for the match-winning third, as she weaved through the Selsey defence before threading a lovely pass for Eaton to hammer home.

This impressive victory came just two days after the Torquay United squad celebrated International Women’s Day, with captain and United’s #HerGameToo ambassador Danni Wyatt highlighting the importance of inclusion for all in sport.

Speaking to the club website, Wyatt said: “International Women’s Day is so important.

“It’s such a positive mark for women in all areas of life, within sport and especially football. I couldn’t be prouder to be a woman in the game today.

“There’s room for improvement globally and on a massive scale, but for now we take pride in our achievements on days like today, where we can feel celebrated.”

Well said Danni, and well played Torquay United Women.
