SDAC looking forward to warmer running
The Looe 10-miler
The weather continues to dominate the sporting conversation in 2024 and it was a massive credit to six brave souls from South Devon Athletic Club, who braved torrential rain in Cornwall for the hilly Looe 10-Miler, the latest round of the club’s internal Grand Prix series.
Shaun Kirk led the club’s contingent home in 1h 24m 24s, followed by Rob Foster in 1h 26m 02s. Kerry Bell came home in 1h 41m 08s, taking second place in her age category in the overall results.
The remaining SDAC runners were Neil Jordain (1h 52m 20s), George Holman (2h 00m 09s) and Alison Ford (2h 15m 29s).
There was more racing for the club’s athletes with the second round of the SDAC Winter 3k series over a fast, flat route along Preston and Paignton seafronts.
Dani Waters was the overall winner in 12m 26s, ahead of Rob Foster (12m 31s) and Shaun Kirk (12m 40s). James Nash was fourth, ahead of Marc Walpot, Guy Henderson, Steve Wright, Vince Langdon, Matthew Senior and Roger Webb.
Running, like most outdoor sport, is a lot more fun in brighter weather, so a massive well done to the SDAC team for ploughing on through a wet winter.
