Asa Hall providing support to Torquay United interim boss
A challenging week for Torquay United interim boss Aaron Downes has been made a little easier by the support of captain and senior player Asa Hall.
The long-serving midfielder is recovering from a minor injury and Downes is adamant Hall still has a key playing function, but he is also contributing as a ‘sounding board’ on the sidelines.
Hall was alongside Downes for the 2-2 draw against Aveley last week and will be available for another supporting role when United visit Weymouth on Saturday afternoon.
“Asa is still an important player to us but also somebody who has been at the club for as long as I have, he knows the club and loves the club,” said Downes.
“You’ve got two people who really understand this football club trying to get us going. I’ve known Asa for a long time, won two leagues with him, one as a player and one as a coach.
“He knows football and a real good sounding board for me, but he is also still a player. He is someone I can lean on; the players trust him and I trust him.”
