Herbie Sage and Simon James were both unbeaten as NA Buzzards beat NA Eagles 9-1 and opened up a twelve-point lead at the top of the first division, writes Tony Halse.
Their two rivals at the top have two games in hand so their stay could be short-lived!
In a close and evenly contested match, Brixham NA Parrots just edged a 6-4 win over the Sharks thanks to a fine maximum from Rhys Lush.
Division two leaders, Brixham Trawlers, lost the top spot following a 7-3 loss to Halwell B, Mick Mercer was unbeaten for Halwell. Jason Prescott’s maximum helped Dawlish Aces to the top of the table with a 6-4 victory over Grove Guerrillas.
In an all-Newton Abbot affair the Raptors’ Paul Hine, with a fine maximum, led the Raptors to a 7-3 victory over NA Kestrels.
The leaders in the third division, Torre Vikings, were also beaten as they lost their first match of the season to Torbay Academy 4.
Reserve Kai Fowler stepped up a division and got a maximum for the Academy side. Meanwhile, Andy Harris collected another maximum to help Torbay Academy 3 defeat NA Harriers 6-4.
Taverners are keeping the pressure on at the top of the table following their 9-1 victory over Brixham Gulls, Martin Dilkes and Colin Harrop were unbeaten for the Taverners.
NA Hawks have left their charge for the top a little late but had an impressive 9-1 win over Dawlish Renegades thanks to maximums from Jackie Whitehorn and Pete Sercombe.
With Chris Garner back in the team for Torre Vikings’ second game in the week, the current leaders comfortably beat Torbay Academy 3. Bill Keywood and Chris Garner were unbeaten for the Vikings as they secured an 8-2 victory over Academy 3.
Marc Grim remains unbeaten in the fourth division as he helped his Dawlish Doubtfuls back to the top of the table with a 7-3 victory over NA Vultures, Peter Chadwick also had a maximum for the Doubtfuls.
Ann Morris and Robert Excell were unbeaten as Torre Gladiators defeated Brixham Seals 8-2. Nick Kitchen’s returned to the Merlins’ fold with a maximum, helping his team defeat clubmates NA Ospreys 7-3.
