Magnificent seven invited to run for county

Seven Torbay AAC juniors were invited to represent Devon at the SW cross country championships at RAF Merryfield
Paige Quinn powered past fellow Devon team mate Olivia Steer in the last 500m of the race to take first place in the U15 F race. While in the same race, Scarlett Muscott finished an impressive 6th. The U15 girls from Devon won first placed team. Theo Glew finished 6th in U15M. All three athletes have been invited to run in the London mini marathon based on these performances . Theo also helped Devon gain first team in this highly competitive event.
Leon Snell was 9th U13 male and 3rd runner in for Devon helping to secure another gold team award for Devon. In the same race and also representing Devon Marlow Kirby finished 7th for Devon and 29th overall with Adam (Mac) Holland running superbly and although was running for Torbay AC was in fact the 8th runner from Devon to finish .
Annalisse Little found a superb finish to place 24th . She was representing Devon and was 7th Devon runner to cross the line. An impressive run in her first intercounty cross country event.
The mens U17 race was a brutal pace but Josh Bradley Reece, representing Devon , showed great strength to finish well closely followed fellow Torbay teammates Oscar Eve and Gwilym Lewis.
Torbay AAC juniors are in great form and benefiting from Martyn Breslan’s weekly strength and conditioning coaching sessions.
Gemma Radcliffe took part in the Plym Trail Winter Half Marathon organised by Running Events Devon. The course starts in Clearbrook Village with an uphill start then following cycle route 27 down to Coypool and back up to the Village. A lovely scenic course following the former railway line. A gradual decent on the way down means an uphill 6.5mile return journey. PB at 2hrs 17minutes
Eight Torbay AAC athletes took on The Oh my Obelisk! A challenging off road race. The event offers a 9.4 and a 13.1 mile course. Deb Webber stormed home to claim first place in her age group.
l South Devon AC’s Dani Waters and Kerry Bell brought home silverware from the hilly, muddy Oh My Obelisk race at Dawlish on Sunday.
The Dawlish Coasters event starts and finishes at the town’s leisure centre and offers nine-mile or half-marathon options with a climb up towards the Mamhead Obelisk and back to test the field.
The nine-mile option formed the second round of South Devon AC’s annual Grand Prix series, and Dani Waters led the club contingent home in 21st place overall, bringing home the award for the best Female Masters entrant. The other SDAC prizewinner was Kerry Bell, who was the first Female Vet 60 runner across the line.
Full club results were: 21st Dani Waters 1h 21m 21s; 24th Antony Waters 1h 23m 49s; 32nd James Nash 1h 29m 36s; 35th Kerry Bell 1h 30m 42s; 38th George Holman 1h 32m 12; 53rd Neil Jordain 1h 37m 42s; 59th Cherry Powell 1h 40m 04s; 66th Mark Holman 1h 44m 33s; 69th Heather Coverdale 1h 45m 53s.
Paul Williams was the only club member brave enough to tackle the full half-marathon. He finished 154th in that race in a time of 2h 51m 04s.
