Brixham beaten on penalties in FA Vase
The cruel lottery of a penalty shoot-out cost Brixham a place in the next round of the FA Vase after a painful defeat in London.
The Fishermen travelled to the capital to take on North Greenford United from the Combined Counties League and the two sides were evenly matched throughout an enthralling contest.
The first half was full of understandable tension and limited chances, as the game remained goalless at the interval.
North Greenford grabbed the lead nine minutes after the restart but the setback sparked a superb response from Brixham. Scott Robinson levelled the tie within two minutes and the Fishermen were now the side in the ascendancy.
Aaron Wellington made it 2-1 just before the hour but Brixham barely had time to settles themselves down before the hosts equalised, with all four goals condensed into a hectic 12-minute spell.
The score remained 2-2 at full-time and straight to the drama of penalties. Unfortunately for Brixham, one missed spot-kick was enough to decide the game, as North Greenford converted all five of their penalties to progress.
