Torquay United sign big striker
Torquay United have signed striker Duane Ofori-Acheampong for a second time.
The powerful centre-forward went straight into the starting line-up for today’s FA Trophy trip to Hereford and will add a serious physical presence to the Gulls.
Ofori-Acheampong, 31, scored six goals from 18 starts in his first Plainmoor stint in the 2014-15 campaign, and has since played for Dover Athletic, Woking, Dartford, Braintree and, most recently, Concord Rangers.
United boss Gary Johnson told the club website: “The opportunity arose to sign Duane on a short-term deal. It’s another different golf club in our bag, so we decided to bring him in.”
Ofori-Acheampong added: “Coming here and seeing the stadium again, my first pro contract in England was for Torquay United, so it definitely means a lot to come back.
“Obviously my time here was cut short previously in my first spell at the club, so it’s good to come in at this stage of the season and help the team out as much as I can.”
