Torbay Velopark Parkrun
Up and Running Torbay, the local wellbeing running club, were proud to help out at the Torbay Parkrun this weekend, writes a club correspondent.
As a club our members can always been seen enjoying this free facility every Saturday morning, whether this is at Torbay Velopark or other parkruns in the local area.
Members even include parkruns in their holiday plans both in this country and abroad. One member said: “I used to enjoy a lazy lie-in on holiday, now we are up at the local parkrun and in the local café afterwards for breakfast.”
Parkrun is a 5 kilometre event for walkers, runners and volunteers that take place at more than 2,000 locations in 22 countries across five continents.
A parkrun is a free community event that takes place every Saturday morning at 9am. Junior parkrun is 2k, dedicated to 4 – 14 years olds and their families, every Sunday morning at Torbay Velopark. Parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit, and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along.
Up and Running Torbay wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who helps and organises the Parkrun, which is why over 40 of its club members have volunteered this weekend to show our appreciation.
A Saturday is now Parkrun Day! A great way to meet up with friends and start the weekend off. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Our members in their blue shirts can always be found at a Parkrun even on the special extra events held on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
The club arranges Parkrun club tours to different events. It recently went to Central in Plymouth.
