MANAGER Gary Johnson has moved to counter rumours about the future of Torquay United's leading scorer and Player Of The Year Aaron Jarvis (writes Dave Thomas).
Johnson has stressed that Jarvis is not for sale, with both player and club looking forward to the former Luton Town and Scunthorpe United player leading their attack again in the National League South next season.
It's unusual for United to react publicly to speculation like this, and so quickly as well.
After scoring four goals in the previous two years, 25-year-old Jarvis galvanized his career, and attracted plenty of attention, with 18 in all competitions in a relegated side last season.
He's under contract until next summer, and he and his young family have settled in the area well.
Jarvis is such a key part of United's hopes for the forthcoming campaign that it's hardly surprising that they are keen to hang on to him.
If he scores plenty of goals in the first half of 2023-2024, everyone at Plainmoor will be happy, and his personal stock will also rise further.
