NICO LAWRENCE, the young Southampton defender that was voted Torquay United's Young Player Of The Year last season, has moved to Colchester United in a season-long loan for 2023-2024 (writes Dave Thomas).
Lawrence, 19, made 22 appearances for the Gulls during four impressive months on a loan at Plainmoor from January to April before returning to the Saints.
The talented Londoner, who became a fixture in the Torquay side at the expense of more experienced colleagues, has a contract at St Mary's which runs to the summer of 2025.
Southampton were always likely to send him out again, but to a higher level..
They have now chosen League Two Colchester as the place to continue his development.
