It’s still early days with a number of postponements meaning that while some teams have played three matches, several have only played one, writes TONY HALSE.

The NA Batmen opened their account with a comprehensive 10-0 victory over Halwell B. New boy Rory Harries, along with Naomi Jackson and Shaun Gibbs, had little trouble in overcoming their opponents from Halwell.

NA Buzzards have also started the season strongly, Herbie Sage and Lauren Loosemore both with maximums in their 9-1 victory over club mates NA Eagles.

Torbay Academy 2, with a couple of excellent wins this week, are the early leaders of Division Two.

Torre Titans’ Ed Crawford was unbeaten as the Academy 2 team ran out 7-3 victors at Torre. The Academy’s second string then travelled to Bishopsteignton and won 8-2 there against the Taverners, Stuart Shipley and Ben Hoare with maximums for the Academy.

The points were shared in an all Brixham affair, the Gulls’ Martin Sharp with a maximum against club mates the Trawlers.

In Division Three, Ed Damanskas and Will Whittington were undefeated as Torbay Academy 3 beat stablemates Academy 4 7-3.

A Doug Morgan maximum was not enough to take his NA Hawks to victory as they shared the points with Torbay Academy 4.

The Grove secured a narrow 6-4 victory over NA Harriers despite a fine maximum from the Harriers’ Keith Haslam.

In another close encounter, Torre Vikings were 6-4 winners over Torbay Academy 5.

A Rob Williams maximum for NA Kestrels was not enough to stave off a 6-4 defeat at Torre against the Tornadoes.

There was a comfortable 9-1 victory in Division Four for Torbay Academy 6 over three debutants making up the NA Vultures team.

Jean Neafcy and Jerry Hollings with maximums for the Academy, young Remy Wilson with a fine singles win for the Vultures to prevent the whitewash.

In an all-Newton Abbot clash, the Merlins overcame the Ospreys 9-1 thanks to maximums from Jasem Abu Ali and Nick Kitchen.

Torbay Academy 7 - Mike Pearce, Maria Dillon, Damian Bednarkiewicz

In another one sided 9-1 victory, NA Kites defeated Torbay Academy 7. Derek Stratton and Anton Shirt were unbeaten for the Kites.
