TCS SDFL: Rams set pace at top of premier division

With comfortable home wins, Kingsteignton Athletic and Buckfastleigh Rangers continue to set the pace at the top of the Torbay Clearance Services South Devon Football League Premier Division, writes NEIL HOCKING.

Kingsteignton prepared for Saturday's crunch home tie with Watts Blake Bearne, who didn't play last weekend, by completing the double over Newton Abbot '66. Tom Reeves bagged a brace for the Rams and Ashley Dove came off the bench to score in a 3-0 victory.

Rangers enjoyed an even more emphatic win, scoring five without reply against East Allington United. Steve Sutton added another two goals to his tally with Kian Berry, Lewis Cox and Charlie Morgan also on target.

Brixham AFC Reserves survived an onslaught by their hosts to beat Ivybridge Town Reserves 1-0.

The Ivies now switch focus to the Devon Premier Cup and will welcome Newtown from the Devon Football League on Saturday. The Ivies are the SDFL's sole representatives in the last 16 despite not yet kicking a ball in the competition.

Waldon Athletic climbed into the top six with a 4-0 home win over Chudleigh Athletic, while Elburton Villa Reserves scored the only goal of the game at Coach Road to send Paignton Saints Reserves to another narrow defeat.

There's now a three way tie for top spot in Division One, with Beesands Rovers leading the way on goal difference. They gave that stat a boost on Saturday with a 6-1 home triumph over Barton Athletic. Louis Brace once again doubled up and was joined on the score-sheet by David Harvey, Lee Morgan, Bradley Williams and Ash Yeoman; Thomas Smith put away Barton's consolation.

Mitchell Medlen salvaged a point for Plympton Athletic with a second half equaliser against visiting Upton Athletic. Kirean Nixon and Alex Stevenson had given Upton the advantage going into the break, Josh Walker with a first half goal for the hosts.

Morley Rangers' unbeaten start to the season ended at Paignton Villa. Liam Jones, Tom Mayer and Charlie Thomas found the back of the bet for Villa with Dalton Brammer's fourth goal of the season not enough for the Plymouth side.

Torquay Town got back to winning ways with a resounding 5-0 home win over Harbertonford, and there were goals galore at Lewthorne Cross where Ilsington Villa beat Babbacombe Corinthians 7-3, Dan Langford and Matt Warman both celebrating hat-tricks.

The headline game in Division Two saw Watcombe Wanderers take over at the top following a 4-2 victory over former leaders Newton Abbot Spurs Thirds. Jamie Carter, Eliott McIntosh, Sam Pyne and Laurence Macleod each netted for the Greens with Aiden Blackie and Deven Webb on target for Spurs.

Watcombe, who go to Seaton Town in the Devon Senior Cup this weekend, have now won five out of five in the league. Spurs host Teignmouth Reserves in the same competition.

Adam Townsend scored twice as Waldon Athletic Reserves won 4-1 at Newton Abbot '66 to go top of Division Three, leapfrogging their opponents in the process. The biggest win in the league was at Chudleigh Athletic Reserves where Bovey Tracey Reserves cruised to an 11-0 win, Alistair Chuchuk with a hat-trick.
