In brutally financial terms, Sunday's play-off final result meant that Torquay United missed out on almost £1.25 million in lost revenue.
A place in League Two is immediately worth around £900,000 in 'trickle-down' money from the EFL and Premier League, £300,000 of it in Youth Academy funding.
But the massive injection of cash would not have stopped there.
Consider the clubs that would have headed to Plainmoor next season - Exeter City, Swindon Town, Bristol Rovers, Newport County, Forest Green Rovers, to say nothing of Northampton Town, Tranmere Rovers, Bradford City, Walsall etc.
The away support from those opponents, including possible sell-outs against Exeter, Swindon and Rovers, would have been worth in the region of £300,000, maybe more.
It's no real consolation, but at least United have an 'extra' two weeks to prepare for next season
While the 2021-2022 EFL campaign starts on August 7, the NL Premier opens a fortnight later, August 21.
The fixtures will be released in just under two weeks' time - Wednesday, July 7.
