A new police inspector has been appointed to oversee police teams in Paignton and Brixham, bringing more than 15 years of experience to the role.
Nichola Drury, known as Nicky, will be leading these two local neighborhood teams, focusing on tackling issues affecting residents, preventing crime and meeting residents across the areas.
Inspector Drury said: “My message to the people I serve is that I’m proud to live and work within the community, we live in a fantastic part of the world, and I feel very invested in keeping it a safe place to be.”
“I look forward to meeting the community, building new partnerships and working with them.”
Neighborhood teams play an essential role in communities like Paignton and Brixham.
They carry out high-visibility foot patrols, tackle ongoing issues like anti-social behaviour and lead interventions to prevent crime.
These teams also provide a vital link between communities, schools, partnership agencies and community groups.
Neighbourhood teams across Devon and Cornwall are made up of Police Constables (PCs), Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and Sergeants.
Inspector Drury brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served with Devon & Cornwall Police since January 2009.
During her time with the force, she has taken on a number of different roles, including Response Officer in Torquay, Police Trainer, Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant and Force Control Centre Inspector.
She has also served as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) tactical advisor and Commander, as well as an Inspector at the Professional Development Unit.
Key achievements throughout her career include developing new training processes during the Covid pandemic to ensure student officers could continue their initial training, as well as helping deliver additional resources to frontline policing teams.
Outside of work, Inspector Drury enjoys following the Exeter Chiefs Women’s rugby team and walking her dogs.
