South Devon College is investing in a new Sixth Form offer launching in September 2026, giving students access to a dedicated study hub, a flexible mix of A-Levels and vocational courses, and a laptop for every new student to support their learning.

South Devon College has announced a major investment in its Sixth Form provision, with a new offer designed to give students greater choice, independence and support as they prepare for their next steps.

Launching in September 2026, the new Sixth Form experience will include a dedicated Sixth Form Hub, a flexible curriculum allowing students to combine A-Levels with vocational and technical qualifications, and a laptop provided to every new Sixth Form student for the duration of their studies.

The new hub has been designed specifically around student needs, providing a dedicated space for learning, collaboration and socialising.

Facilities will include a social common area, a dedicated study space, direct access to tutor support, a fully equipped student kitchen and brand-new classrooms designed for Level 3 study.

Alongside the new facilities, every student joining the Sixth Form will receive a laptop following their induction, ensuring access to technology both inside and outside the classroom.

The college said the laptops will help remove barriers to learning, allowing students to complete research, access resources and develop digital skills throughout their studies.

Students will also benefit from a wider choice of pathways, with the ability to combine traditional A-Levels with vocational and technical qualifications featuring practical learning, industry links and work placements.

The flexible approach aims to keep opportunities open for students whether they are planning to progress to university, an apprenticeship or employment.

South Devon College Sixth Form has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted and holds TEF Gold status for higher education. Students also benefit from links with employers across key regional industries including clean energy, digital, health and care, marine, construction, tourism and creative industries.

Laurence Frewin, Principal and CEO of South Devon College, said the new offer reflects the college’s commitment to helping young people succeed.

“Our new Sixth Form offer reflects what South Devon College has always been about - giving young people the best possible start,” he said.

“One of the things I am most pleased about is that every new student joining our Sixth Form will have a laptop following their induction. It sounds simple but removing that practical barrier matters.

“Combined with a dedicated space and the flexibility to combine A-Levels with vocational study, our Sixth Form students will be well placed for whatever comes next, whether that is university, an apprenticeship, or moving into one of the industries shaping our region’s future.”

Applications for September 2026 remain open, with the college also hosting drop-in sessions during August for prospective students wanting more information about available courses.

Sessions will take place from 10am to 3pm on 13, 20 and 27 August.
