Brixham is set to send another vital Winter Medical Aid Convoy to Ukraine, departing Fore Street on Thursday 6 November 2026 between 9:30am and 10am.

The convoy, organised and funded by the local community, will deliver essential medical and humanitarian supplies to those affected by four years of ongoing conflict.

The convoy will include five vehicles, featuring two ambulances and other support vehicles, carrying medical aid, mobility equipment, generators, warm blankets, hats, gloves, and other essential items. These supplies are crucial for frontline evacuation and to help Ukrainian communities survive the harsh winter months.

Over the past four months, local volunteers, charities, clubs, and churches, led by Brixham Future CIC and in partnership with Ukraine Action, have been fundraising, collecting, sorting, and preparing the convoy.

In particular, £5,000 of life-saving antibiotics and a further £5,000 of critical medical supplies have been purchased, alongside contributions of generators, hygiene items, blankets, and clothing.

A spokesperson for Brixham Future CIC said: "We have purchased five suitable vehicles. These include two 2nd hand ambulances. These will be driven across Europe to Poland by local Brixham volunteers (mainly local military veterans), and handed over to the Ukrainian resident volunteers for front-line areas. The Brixham drivers can then return for Christmas."

The convoy is expected to cost around £35,000, covering the purchase and upgrades of vehicles, tax, insurance, and fuel. The organisers are asking the public to help cover fuel costs by donating spare euros at collection points including Colours of Brixham Art Shop and Crafty Cwtch Welsh Café in Middle Street.

The Brixham community’s response has been overwhelming, demonstrating the town’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian support. Residents are encouraged to come out on the morning of 6 November to give the convoy a flag-waving send-off.
