The English Riviera basked in yet another spectacular week of sunshine, as Torbay’s extraordinary run of summer weather continued — and then some.

Last week marked the 29th consecutive day where temperatures reached 21.2°C (70°F) or higher, extending a golden streak that’s lasted since 15 June with barely a drop of rain.

According to data provided by local weather watchers Mark and Mark, the warmest day was 10 July, when temperatures peaked at a sizzling 28.1°C — making it not only the hottest day of the year so far, but also the warmest in Torbay since 8 July 2018, when the mercury hit 28.5°C.

Even the 'coolest' day, 7 July, still reached a very pleasant 23°C, with daytime highs nearly 5°C above averagethroughout the week.

Nights were mild too, ranging from 12.4°C on the 8 July — the coolest night — to a balmy 17.5°C on the 11 July.

The sun was certainly shining: 95.5 hours of bright sunshine were recorded last week, with the 8 July standing out as the sunniest day at 14.7 hours.

Rain was all but absent. A mere 1.9mm fell on the 13th, making it both the wettest day of the week and the total weekly rainfall. So far this month (to 13 July), Torbay has seen just 2.3mm of rain.

With golden evenings, sun-drenched days and barely a cloud in sight, it’s fair to say this was a week to remember.
