Up for a challenge - then Rowcroft Hospice needs you.
They are hoping businesses will showcase their entrepreneurial and community spirit by participating in its exciting new Accumulator Challenge.
Running from July 1 to October 31, this initiative invites companies from across South Devon to turn a £50 loan into substantial funds for local end-of-life care.
Twenty participating teams will unleash their creativity to raise funds for the hospice, using the loan as a seed-fund to kick-start their fundraising activities.
From selling the world’s best brownies and hosting summer BBQs, to organising fashion shows, car washes, quiz nights and football tournaments, the possibilities for fundraising are endless!
With participating teams featured prominently on Rowcroft’s leaderboard, the challenge culminates with the crowning of the Accumulator Champion.
Rowcroft’s Corporate Fundraiser Lisa Whitaker said:. “Whether you’re a small start-up or a large organisation, this is a brilliant opportunity to inject energy and fun into the workplace while raising vital funds for the hospice. Beyond fundraising, this challenge fosters team-building, boosts morale and demonstrates support for your local community.”
Every pound raised will help Rowcroft to provide expert care and support to local people living with life-limiting illnesses. This includes individuals like Gareth Wynn, a much-loved local DJ from Torbay, who received care at Rowcroft Hospice before passing away in February 2024, at the age of 39.
Gareth’s sisters Nicola and Lauren spoke about the moment he arrived at the hospice and how, after a shave, a haircut, and a change of clothes, “our brother was back.”
Nicola added: “The staff helped us too, because we wouldn’t have got through without them. They helped us to help him and nurse him, and we were able to stay overnight. Late into the night, the night he died, we were listening to music and he was surrounded by us and the staff, who had such an empathetic way of explaining what was happening and why.”
