The 2024 Ocean Healthcare Torbay Half Marathon and 10k events are OFF.
Organisers announced this morning (September 28) that the events, which were due to be staged tomorrow (Sunday September 29) have been cancelled due to the weather.
The Met Office has issued a severe Yellow weather warning for tomorrow. The forecast for Sunday morning indicates a strong likelihood of gale force winds and heavy rain.
Suzi Cumberland, Managing Director of Organisers Taurus Events said: “First and foremost, we are sorry that it has been necessary to cancel the events at short notice and completely understand that many people will be disappointed.
"However, the safety and well-being of participants, spectators and all those associated with the delivery of our events is our absolute priority, and with the predicted wind speeds, the only decision available to us, after consultation with other parties, has been to cancel.”
Organisers said that because of the time of year, it will not be possible to reschedule the events in 2024, although they are planned to be staged in 2025.
All entrants have been advised of the cancellation and will receive details later in the week with options regarding a refund of their entry fee.
The organisers have thanked everyone for their patience and understanding.
