It is currently taking an average of 131 days to complete a house sale in TQ postcodes, according to new data.
The figures, compiled by professional house buying firm Property Solvers, show that homes in parts of the TQ2, TQ9 and TQ1 postcode areas are selling the fastest – with average completion times between 116 and 122 days.
The data tracks the time from when a property is first listed on major UK portals to when it is officially marked as sold at HM Land Registry.
In total, more than 440 transactions across Torbay and surrounding areas were analysed between March 2024 and March 2025.
The slowest sales were recorded in Buckfastleigh (TQ11), where homes took an average of 160 days to sell. Properties in the Paignton (TQ4 and TQ3), Dartmouth (TQ6) and Teignmouth (TQ14) areas also experienced above-average delays.
Fastest areas to sell (March 2024 – March 2025):
Torquay (TQ2): 116 days (38 properties)
South Brent (TQ9): 117 days (31 properties)
Torquay (TQ1): 122 days (25 properties)
Newton Abbot (TQ13): 126 days (36 properties)
Kingsbridge (TQ7): 127 days (25 properties)
Slowest areas to sell:
Buckfastleigh (TQ11): 160 days (13 properties)
Paignton (TQ4): 143 days (41 properties)
Paignton (TQ3): 141 days (46 properties)
Dartmouth (TQ6): 140 days (10 properties)
Teignmouth (TQ14): 136 days (28 properties)
Ruban Selvanayagam, co-founder of Property Solvers, said: “While TQ sale times remain in line with historical trends, there are encouraging signs that greater adoption of tech-driven efficiencies will help reduce transaction lengths in future.
“A key example is improving the accessibility and transparency of property-related data to help make the process more seamless.”
