Torbay firm adds sparkle to the streets in memory of much-loved dad

Wiltshire’s launches glittery 'Strictly' fleet to raise funds for Rowcroft Hospice ahead of dancefloor debut

A family-run Torbay business is adding a little extra sparkle to the streets — and raising funds for Rowcroft Hospice.

Hannah Wiltshire is a competitor in this year's Strictly Rowcroft glittering ballroom dancing event.

In support of the big night, landscape suppliers Wiltshires has decorated its fleet in dazzling Strictly-themed get-up. They’re encouraging the public to keep an eye out as they cha-cha-cha their way round the Bay, snap a photo if they spot one, and share it on social media using the hashtag #SpotTheStrictlyVehicle. A top shot will be chosen with the chance of winning a strictly-esque glitter ball for your patio.

Hannah lost her father Andrew Wiltshire to cancer in 2023. She feels hugely privileged to be chosen to take part in Strictly Rowcroft.

She said: "Dad was a familiar face in the local community, born and bred in Torquay - it was impossible to go anywhere with him and not bump into someone he knew. I am so grateful to be given this opportunity to thank Rowcroft for the incredible support they gave us all at what was a hugely challenging time. Without them we would not have been able to grant Dad his final wish to pass peacefully at home with us by his side. Knowing the money raised will help other local families have the same support is a huge motivating factor.”

Andrew stood as the bedrock of Wiltshires for over six remarkable decades and was a big supporter of local charities. As part of their fundraising efforts Wiltshires will also be donating a percentage of their porcelain paving sales to Rowcroft in his honour.

The Rowcroft charity dance event is taking place on Saturday May 17 at the Princess Theatre in Torquay and will showcase 12 local participants performing in front of a live audience and an expert judging panel, including Strictly Come Dancing star Flavia Cacace, Strictly Come Dancing choreographer Jenny Thomas and Stairway to the Stars producer Chris Chambers.

Hannah has spent eight weeks in an intensive dance training programme led by the expert team at Danceworks Devon. She says: “I do have to pinch myself - it feels just like Strictly and is also reminiscent of one of my favourite films - Dirty Dancing. Sadly my darling Dad won't be there to put me in the corner - but I hope that - like Baby - I will ace it in time for the big night and wow you all with my moves."

The “Spot the Strictly Vehicle” challenge is live now across Torbay and South Devon.
