Police are appealing for information to help locate two men wanted in connection with a serious assault on Teignmouth Back Beach.
Terry Mitchell, 46, from Witheridge, and Edward Mitchell, 44, from Paignton, are being sought by officers investigating the incident, which took place at about 8:45pm on Friday 2 May.
Police were called to reports of a young man being attacked by four people armed with weapons.
Enquiries are ongoing and officers are asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of the two men to call 999, quoting reference 50250109699.
The incident is believed to have been part of a wider disorder involving mostly young people. Police estimate between 50 and 100 people were on the beach at the time, but say the majority were not involved in the violence.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of assault following the incident. One has been released without charge, while the other has been released on bail.
Det Sgt Sarah Dawkins said: “We are aware of footage circulating on social media and would urge people not to share it.
“We’d need to remind the public that suspects under the age of 18 must not be identified. This applies to everyone, not just media organisations.
“Sharing such information could be seen as interfering with a live investigation, so we ask that people do not speculate.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information or relevant footage is asked to contact police via the Devon and Cornwall Police website or by calling 101, quoting reference 50250109699.
Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers at crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
