Last chance to sign-up for residents card offering exclusive discounts in the area

Final chance to save money with My Bay resident card

Torbay residents are being given a final chance to join the My Bay scheme for 2025 and save money.

Launched by Torbay Council to support the local economy, My Bay offers exclusive discounts to those who live in the area. Applications for the scheme, which opened in January, must be submitted by midday on Monday, 12 May 2025. This will be the last sign-up window for the year.

Cardholders can save at popular attractions such as Paignton Zoo, Torre Abbey, and Kents Cavern, as well as on food and drink at local kiosks and restaurants.

The card also provides discounts on a range of activities, including swimming, climbing, walking tours, rib rides, cinema trips, and theatre visits.

Additional offers are available with health and wellbeing therapists and at a variety of retail outlets, including those selling jewellery, gifts, fashion, and arts and crafts.

My Bay also includes discounts on professional services, including home improvement, DIY, and building services.

All offers, deals, and discounts are listed in the My Bay section of the Torbay Council website.

So far, around 1,800 people have signed up to enjoy a full year of savings with more than 100 local businesses participating.

Other benefits include a parking permit offering an extra hour of free parking in most off-street pay-and-display car parks in Torbay when a ticket for one hour or more is purchased with cash or card. The card also includes 33 free visits to public toilets in Torbay, valued at £10.

Cllr David Thomas, Leader of Torbay Council, said: "We have seen a fantastic uptake from residents and businesses so far, and My Bay is now firmly bedded in. Lots of people are already using the offers, and now there's a final chance for this year to join in and show your support for local businesses.

"It's a great way for people to make their money go further on visits to our high streets and attractions and also on products and professional services from a wide range of great local providers.

"We want to make sure we are doing all we can to help Torbay thrive, and My Bay supports that aim by helping people's money go further by supporting local businesses. I would urge everyone to take a look at what's on offer. My Bay is a way we can all work together to support the local economy and make the most of our beautiful Bay all year round.

"The benefits of joining My Bay are clear, and the support from local people has been amazing so far. It has been well received by the business community, and we are seeing more offers continue to be added."

Applications are only accepted at specific times during the year and can currently be made online via the Torbay Council website or a My Torbay account. The current application period closes at midday on Monday, 12 May 2025.

Proof of residence is required, and a list of acceptable documents is available on the website.

To apply for a My Bay parking permit, you must submit a copy of your driving licence and either your V5 vehicle registration document, Motability Agreement, or Leasing Agreement. These documents can also be used as proof of residence for the resident card.

If you are unable to apply online, paper application forms are available at Torquay, Paignton, and Brixham libraries. Applications can be submitted in person at these libraries, but you must bring your proof of residence and vehicle registration documents.

Once an application is approved and the £10 administration fee is paid, the card and permit will be posted out in June, ready for use from 1 July 2025 for 12 months.

The £10 sign-up fee is waived for unpaid carers registered with Torbay Carers, in recognition of the work they do.
