World-renowned business expert, guru and commentator Mark Berrisford-Smith will be the star guest at a business 'summit' in Newton Abbot.
Charles Darrow and South West Business Finance are hosting the economic event at Newton Abbot Racecourse on Thursday March 27 (9am for 10am) .
HSBC global economist Berrisford -Smith who retired last year after 35 years is world renowned.
Paul Lilley from SWBF, said: "He’s been blind since birth, but travels the globe. His humorous delivery, call it as you see it, connections with the Bank of England makes him box office gold. Mark and I have known one another for 30 years hence why I’ve been able to persuade him to come to the SW."
The hosts will be represented on the day byJon Clyne,Steve Barrett,,Daniel Smith, andPaul Lilley,. among others.
Berrisford-Smith says on Linkedin: "By the time we get to Thursday we'll hopefully know whether or not the UK is going to be stiffed for 25 per cent tariffs on all the goods we send to the US, ahead of President Trump's 'Tariff War' day on April 2 More generally, I'll be talking about the wider consequences of a protectionist America, what it means for growth and inflation, and whether we can still expect two interest rate cuts later this year.
"I'll also be discussing the Chancellor's Spring Statement. The public finances are in a parless condition, and cuts to the overseas aid budget won't be anything like enough to fund the additional defence spending that we're going to need in coming years. "It won't be among my more cheerful presentations, but I hope it will shed some clarity on a confusing and worrying economic and geopolitical situation."
A handful of tickets for the breakfast presentation are available. Email Jon Clyne jon.clyne@charlesdarrow.co.uk
