Torbay Businesses will celebrate International Women’s Day with a sold-out, empowering event at the Livermead House Hotel in Torquay.
International Women's Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Held annually on March 8, the day also marks a call for accelerated gender parity.
The event, taking place on Friday, March 7, will feature talks from influential speakers who have made lasting impacts in their respective fields.
This is the second event hosted by Torbay Council, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, specifically through the Start-Up Torbay programme, led by Kim Thornton, Business Advisor at Torbay Council.
Thanks to sponsorship from Torbay Hi-Tech Cluster, South Devon College, The Torbay Weekly, and Superb - who are filming the event - it has a larger capacity than last year.
Attendees will have the chance to be inspired, network, and talk about this year’s theme, #AccelerateAction.
A Torbay Council spokesperson said: “Whether you're looking to start a business, already run your own business or work in business this event promises to be a source of inspiration and motivation for women in Torbay. Be part of an inclusive community where women from diverse backgrounds come together to share their stories and experiences and connect with like-minded individuals, forge new connections, and explore opportunities for collaboration and growth.”
Speakers include:
Jess Wiggins, founder of Impact Coaching International
Sam Garner, founder and director of Balanced People and Balanced Schools
Kate Gliddon, director of FIR Construction Limited
Lisa Tuck, divisional director of economy, environment, and infrastructure at Torbay Council
The event will also host a panel discussion on start-up businesses with:
Demi Kennan, Demi Kennan Interiors
Sarah Anderson, Devonmade
Amy Chadney, Indie Brand Builder
The event is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, specifically through the Start-Up Torbay programme, led by Kim Thornton, Business Advisor at Torbay Council.
