Two of Torbay's well-known waterside venues have been doing their bit to help keep Torbay's lifeboat service afloat.
The Torbay Lifeboat Fundraisers have said an official thankyou to owner Brett Morton and manager Mark Baines of the Offshore Bar and Restaurant on Torquay harbourside, presenting them with a certificate for the money raised in 2024.
The funds are in addition to the huge amounts Offshore has raised for RNLI Torbay at the last three music festivals they stage in May each year. Over £3,000 has been raised to help keep this valuable lifesaving service running.
Organisers are looking forward to another great festival on May 11 with full details available.
Offshore have been aided by Paignton-based Bays Brewery who have been running the free community event for 13 years raising £10,000 for local charities.
The Boathouse on Preston promenade opened their doors for the first time with a coffee morning.
Despite the miserable weather lots of RNLI Torbay supporters came to the new venue for their monthly coffee morning. Shelly and Graham Fletcher, the Boathouse owners, and their staff provided the fund-raisers with a warm welcome, lovely log fire and a great choice of coffees. There was the usual cake, biscuits and preserve stall and a raffle with lots of prizes.
People enjoyed a happy hour and a half in conversation while viewing the angry sea through the windows. At the same time £328.50 was raised.
