Torquay's Princess Theatre is staging unusual 'auditions' - to find a charity they can champion.

The seafront venue says: "The Princess Theatre is Looking for a Charity Star! Could It Be You?"

It is on the hunt for an 'incredible' local charity to be its Charity of the Year – and they are appealing for charities to apply.

The theatre says: "This exciting initiative is all about giving back, building connections, and using the magic of theatre to make a real difference in our community.

"If your charity is based in Torbay, South Hams, or Teignbridge, we would love to hear from you."

The application window is open now and will close at 11am on Thursday February 20. After that, a dedicated panel will shortlist the top contenders on the same day before putting the final decision to a staff-wide vote the following week.

The big reveal? The lucky charity will be announced by Monday March 3.

The Princess Theatre Charity and Community Engagement Panel is a brand-new initiative designed to strengthen the theatre’s ties with the local community. While the theatre has supported charities in the past, this new committee is dedicated to making an even bigger impact by championing important causes, promoting inclusivity, and demonstrating the power of theatre to bring people together.

The theatre says: "If your charity is up for the spotlight, don’t miss this chance. Apply today, spread the word, and let’s make something amazing happen together."
