Police making arrests in Torquay town centre
Torquay police have completed a successful 'week of action' in the town centre.
Its Neighbourhood Team and Neighbourhood Support Team made several arrests for drugs offences as well as anti-social behaviour.
A spokesman said: "This proactive engagement isn't a one off. The work to protect our communities is ongoing across the year. This was an opportunity for us to continue to raise awareness of the work police do, to keep communities safe. "
A breakdown of the week included:
* 10 arrests made for drug offences, public order, assault police, resisting arrest and failing to comply with Public Space Protection Orders.
*One man sent to prison for a minimum term of three years for being in possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.
* 23 stop searches made.
* 11 people dispersed from the town centre under a Public Space Protection Order.
*Three warrants executed at properties under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
*4 vehicles seized for having no insurance.
