A second chance to sign up for Torbay's money-saving My Bay scheme is now open.

A second chance to sign up for Torbay's money-saving My Bay scheme is now open.

People aged 16-plus who live in Torbay can apply for a My Bay resident card and parking permit from now until midday on Friday February 14.

The card gives access to exclusive deals, discounts and offers with around 100 local businesses. It also gives £10 worth of free entry to public toilets in Torbay - that's 33 visits.

Members can also get a permit for an extra hour of free parking when they use cash or card to buy a ticket for an hour or more in most of Torbay's off-street pay-and-display car parks.

More than 1,000 people applied for the My Bay 'early bird' offer last year and the scheme went live on January 1.

There is now a second chance for people who live in Torbay to join the My Bay scheme. This is for membership from April 1 for 12 months.

Applicants must be aged 16 years or over with their primary home in the Torbay Council area.

Proof of residence is needed and there is a list of acceptable documents on the Torbay Council website. Applications can be made online via the website or a My Torbay account.

To apply for a My Bay parking permit, you must show a copy of both your driving licence and V5 vehicle registration document, Motability Agreement or Leasing Agreement.  These will also count as proof of residence.

If you cannot go online, paper application forms are available at the libraries in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham.

You can get help with your application at the libraries, and you must bring your proof of residence and vehicle registration to apply.

After an application is approved and the £10 fee paid to cover admin costs, the card and permit will be posted out in March, ready to start using from April 1.

The £10 sign-up fee has been waived for unpaid Carers registered with Torbay Carers, as a thank-you for the work that they do.

Full terms and conditions of the scheme are on the Torbay Council website.

Help and information are available from the Customer Services team on 01803 207900.

Businesses that have joined the scheme are being given signs to display and posters to show details of their exclusive deal for My Bay members. The deals are also listed on our website which is updated regularly as more offers are added.

My Bay is designed to help people save money and support local businesses all year round. Council leader Dave Thomas said: "It is great to see My Bay up and running, with hundreds of people now able to enjoy the benefits.

"My Bay will help people's money go further while they spend time out and about in our high streets and attractions, helping to support the local economy. I would urge people to take a look at the savings, offers and discounts, and take advantage of this second chance to join. My Bay is a way we can all work together to help Torbay thrive and make the most of the beautiful Bay where we live.

"The support from local people has been excellent so far and more businesses are joining all the time, so I expect My Bay to go from strength to strength."
