Drivers should prepare for significant travel delays as resurfacing work begins on Edginswell Bridge in Torquay.

Torbay Council has announced that roadworks on Edginswell Bridge, the three-lane route connecting Torquay to the South Devon Expressway, will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22, and are expected to last approximately three weeks.

The project includes upgrades to the bridge's expansion joints.

While the road will remain open for most of the work, traffic will be reduced to a single lane. A full night-time closure is planned for two days during the third week of the works.

For those travelling to Newton Abbot, St Marychurch Road is recommended as the fastest alternative route.

Drivers are urged to plan their journeys accordingly.
