A driver has been injured after a crash on Torbay Road left it closed in both directions.
A collision caused a mile and a half of queues down the main seafront road in Torquay at around 6.40am this morning, Monday, January 13.
According to reports, police closed the main commuter route in both directions while they recovered a single-vehicle collision near Livermead Sands beach.
According to police, the driver has sustained a minor injury and is being attended to in hospital.
There was heavy traffic along the road for around an hour with queuing outside the Livermead House Hotel and Waters Edge Hotel, as well as along by Abbey Park and the Torquay Athletic Rugby Football Club.
There was also queuing traffic along Old Mill Road between Walnut Road and Livermead Hill.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police has said: "Police were called to Torbay Road at around 6.40am on Monday, 13 January, following a report of a single-vehicle road traffic collision. A road closure has been put in place and recovery arranged. The driver has suffered a minor injury and will attend hospital to be checked over."
At 8.55am, it was reported that Torbay Road had reopened and traffic had cleared.
