Police appeal for information after collision with car in M&S car park

Witnesses sought after Torquay fatal collision

An elderly woman has died after an accident in the car park of the Willows shopping centre in Torquay.

Emergency services were called around 4.20 pm on Thursday January 9 after a red Citroen C3 was in collision with the woman in the Marks & Spencer car park at the Barton complex.

The woman, in her 80s and from Bovey Tracey, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. Sadly, she died later the same evening in hospital.

The male driver of the car from Paignton was not injured.

A section of the car park was closed to allow for a forensic examination of the scene and to allow for the recovery of the vehicle.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and would like to speak with any witnesses or anyone who may have captured the incident on dashcam.

Please contact police online or by telephone on 101, quoting log number 518 of 09/01/25.
