A woman had to be freed from the wreckage of her car after a crash on Haldon Hill.

A woman had to be freed from the wreckage of her car after a crash on Haldon Hill.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the serious collision which occurred on the A38 near Exeter at at around 3pm on Friday December 20.

It was reported that a two-vehicle collision involving a grey Vauxhall Meriva and a cream Volvo Flat Lorry, had taken place in lane one.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a woman in her 60s, sustained life-changing injuries was extracted from the car before being taken to hospital.

Devon and Cornwall Police, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, South Western Ambulance Service and Highways England attended the scene.

The road was closed for around six hours while a forensic investigation took place and the vehicles were recovered.

Police said: "We would like to thank members of public for their patience while this work was carried out."

Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area between around 2.45pm and 3pm and may have seen either vehicle prior to the incident or witnessed the collision to please get in touch.

Anyone travelling in the area with dash-cam footage which may assist us is asked to get in touch via the police website or by calling 101 quoting log 419 20/12/2024.
