The
Babbacombe Theatre in Torquay is once again on the lookout for talented young performers to join its professional cast for the 2025 season, with auditions taking place on Sunday, November 24.
The production team is seeking junior performers who can sing and dance, as well as senior female dancers with a strong foundation in all aspects of dance, including ballet, modern, jazz, and tap.
In past years, the theatre company has attracted talented young performers from across the region, with some travelling from as far as Cornwall to attend the auditions.
Auditions for junior performers start at 10.30am, with doors opening at 10am.
Performers must be at least six years of age, and whilst there is no maximum age, there is a maximum height requirement of 4 feet 9 inches (144.5 cm).
The show will feature four teams of children who will alternate performances throughout the year from February 18 until October 15.
There will be up to 18 performance dates per team on either a Tuesday or Wednesday evening, but the theatre has assured that they can accommodate other commitments, including holidays.
Participants are encouraged to come to auditions with unavailable dates in mind so that once the selection process is complete, the children’s performance schedules can be planned accordingly.
The juniors will begin with a vocal audition, singing Best Day of My Life to a provided backing track.
Following this, the choreographer will teach a short dance routine, which children will perform in groups, so participants should come dressed for dance and bring jazz shoes or trainers.
For the senior dancers, the show’s producer and director are looking for girls aged over 15 with a strong standard in all aspects of dance.
Dancers are required to be at the venue for 11.30am and bring with them ballet and jazz shoes or trainers for routines set in commercial dance and lyrical ballet.
The girls, who should all be between 5 ft 3 inches (160 cm) and 5 ft 10 inches (178 cm), will not be required to sing.
Everyone that wishes to audition must complete a registration form, with seniors required to register their attendance prior to the audition date.
Successful candidates must be available for all scheduled rehearsals, some of which occur during school terms.
The full details of show dates and rehearsal schedules are included with the registration forms.
Seniors in full-time education should confirm authorised absences before auditioning.
Cast members must also attend a photocall on Wednesday, November 27, at 5.15 pm.
