Upcoming event is film enthusiasts' dream

Local film enthusiasts can enjoy film and animation and network with talented South West producers

Upcoming event is film enthusiasts' dream
After October’s successful gathering of film producers from across the South West, local film enthusiasts have another opportunity to come and enjoy film and animation, as well as network with other talented producers.
The event, titled ‘Film Made on Film’, is a collaboration between Wide Open, English Riviera Film Festival, and Devon and Cornwall Film.
It will take place at The Projection Room in Paignton on Wednesday, November 27.
The afternoon kicks off at 2:30 PM with 'Rolling Shorts', a showcase of experimental and film-based short productions from South West filmmakers.
The films will play on a loop at 2.30pm, 3.30pm, and 4.30pm, offering attendees plenty of opportunities to catch the screenings.
In the evening, from 6.30pm (doors open at 6pm), the event will feature celebrated filmmaker and animator Ashley Thorpe in conversation with John Tomkins, Director of the English Riviera Film Festival.
Known for his canny knack of creating unnerving and absorbing films with substance and sophistication, Ashley Thorpe has been the brains behind gothic re-tellings of Devon folklore (The Hairy Hands), an interwar psycho-drama (The Screaming Skull), and a rich narrative of the most haunted house in England (Borley Rectory).
Clips from Ashley Thorpe’s films will be shown during the event.
Most recently, he's been behind the various animations and graphics for the hit BBC series 'Uncanny' with Danny Robins.
The discussion, called 'Does this look right?', will outline his career, techniques and inspirations.
Tickets can be purchased on a donation basis via Wide Open’s website: https://www.wide-open.uk/events-opps/does-this-look-right
