A cat rescue centre has sent out an SOS to help solve a Moggie Mystery involving a Torquay cat who has been found 360 miles away from home.
A cat rescue centre has sent out an SOS to help solve a Moggie Mystery involving a Torquay cat who has been found 360 miles away from home.
The 13-year-old Tortoiseshell has been a stray in Lowestoft in Norfolk for the past six months but how she got there is not known.
The appeal for help in tracing the wanderlust cat's owners has been issued by the Anglia Coastal branch of Cats Protection which is now looking after her.
A spokesman said: "The cat has been a stray in the NR33 area of Lowestoft for about the past six months, and was taken in by a lady who subsequently took it to the vets, as it was in poor health. Having checked the microchip, the cat was found to have originated in Torquay some 360 odd miles away.
"The cat is 13 years old and is a Tortoiseshell (domestic short hair) and we have discovered that she originates from the Westhill Road area of Torquay. Unfortunately, that's all the information that we have, as there are no further up to date details available on her microchip. She originally came in wearing a red collar."
The spokesman added: "We're trying to ascertain whether the cat has either stowed away in a vehicle, and subsequently ended up in Lowestoft, and so she is still missing from the Torquay area, or whether she relocated to Lowestoft from Torquay with her owner, and therefore someone might know of her owner/s who moved to our area.
"We're appealing for help to try and find her owner, as we would love to be able to reunite them. Otherwise, if we are unable to do this then she will obviously be rehomed, but at present she is being cared for."
If anyone recognises the Mystery Moggie, or might know who her owner is, they are asked to contact the branch -lostandfound@angliacoastal.cats.org.uk quoting CP ID 714202
