Appeal after 30-year-old man dies in collision near Totnes

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal single-vehicle collision on the A3122 Halwell Cross, near Totnes, on Friday 26 April.

Emergency services were called to the incident, which involved a black Seat Leon, at around 9.30pm.

Two passengers from the vehicle were taken to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries.

One of the injured men, aged in his 30s, sadly died the following day.

The second passenger, aged in his 20s, sustained suspected life-changing injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.  

The road was closed while an investigation was carried out at the scene.

Officers from the Force’s Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience during the closure. 

Officers are appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken to them, but who may have seen the collision, or have relevant dashcam footage, to come forward.
