Adventure trails engage the community

Pirates at Cockington

Cockington has been extremely popular this Easter, with three adventurous trails for the local community to follow.
One of these quests taking the course around the historic village centre, was prepared by The School House Tearoom & Gift shop. Another throughout Cockington Country Park, Occombe Farm and Berry Head National Nature Reserve, was set-up by The Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust.

The final quest was delivered by Cockington Court, which launched the Pirate Themed Year at the “Centre of Creativity”. Cockington Courts Street Artist in Residence, Szabotage also delivered a Pirate-themed workshop to add to the excitement.
The illustrious Sculpture returns to Cockington Court from 28th July to 3rd November and applications to take part in “Pirates and the Deep Sea” are now live, with more information on the Cockington Court Website. For more details contact info@cockingtoncourt.org.

To get you in the mood for the pirate shenanigans this year, you could also engage in the glorious Brixham Pirate Festival, which takes places across 4th-6th May with lots of entertainment and awesome characters.
Schools, young people, and families are also encouraged to unleash their creativity this year, as Cockington Court invites you to produce some art to display around Cockington. You could perhaps create scrolls, ships, chests, flags, folk stories, artifacts or mythical creatures. This is a great opportunity to celebrate creativity across all generations. Come and join the fun and show off your designs at Cockington.

The Chelston Community Club delivered another brilliant event this Easter at the Haywain Pub, with lots of happy faces in attendance. I look forward to their next event and supporting it.
Finally, the Edible Corner Project in Higher Chelston is set to take off soon! If you would like to help bring a series of community gardens to life, please contact joeydamiral@torbaycdt.org.uk. You can follow my Facebook Page- Joey Damiral, Community Builder for Chelston, Livermead and Cockington for updates on what is happening in and around the area. Alternatively, you can refer to the Beach Hut Community Magazine in print or online each month. Check out Walk, Talk and Explore Cockington with Chelston and The Creative Writing Group as the latest community groups in the area. More fun to come.
