Memorial planned in tribute to Brixham teenager

A memorial service has been planned for a Brixham teenager who tragically lost his life in a motorbike accident last month.

The death of 19-year-old Conor Walker had a profound impact both on the people who loved him and the community around him. The day after his death, over 100 people gathered on Brixham Road to pay their respects, accompanied by scores of motorbikes.

The crowd was so big that it spilled out onto the road, causing one lane of traffic to be shut off.

On the evening of Tuesday, March 26, a procession of about 100 motorcycles gathered near South Devon College and embarked on a ride out down Long Road to the Shoreline Restaurant on Paignton Seafront.

From here, a lantern was lit and flown into the sky and memories of Conor’s life were shared.

Conor’s family has organised a celebration of his life for April 19. The memorial will start at Brixham Breakwater Slipway at 1pm.

Conor’s family said: “As a family, we are sorry to announce the death of our beautiful boy, Conor. He died in a motorbike accident on the 19th of March at age 19. We are heartbroken.

“We will say goodbye to him on the 19th of April in his hometown, Brixham. All who loved him are welcome to join us for Conor's day. Please join in for any part that you feel is right for you.

“1 pm -  Brixham Breakwater slipway: We will take Conor to the Breakwater slipway and be there for a while for people to gather and show their love for him. 2 pm. Scala Hall: We will be holding a service in the Scala Hall. Close Friends and family are welcome. If you are not able to join us here due to the Hall being full, please make your way to the Berry Head Hotel. 3 pm Berry Head Hotel:  We will be celebrating his life at the Berry Head Hotel in the Mulberry room.

“There is no dress code, please wear whatever you would like to.”

Funeral Directors Stockman and Loram helped with the proceedings. No flowers have been requested.

Instead, a memorial to Torbay RNLI has been set up. Donations can be made with Gift Aid through www.stockmanandloram.co.uk/donations.
