A Torquay businessman is planning six of the best - or worst - in memory of his late stepdad.
Jake Wood, a director of Seawood Yachts and Chandlery on Torquay harbour, is planning not one but six charity fund-raising marathons.
Jake, whose business also has a base in Exmouth, will be remembering stepdad Nige Fitzgerald. He said: "Our family lost a member earlier this year as Nige passed away from myeloma.
"For his memory starting on April 8 on the lead up to his birthday and the spreading of his ashes I will be walking six marathons in six consecutive days from Ladram Bay, Devon, one of his favourite places to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham, Surrey, who looked after him until the end and are also doing a great job of supporting my family since. "
Charities benefitting will be Blood Cancer UK and the Phylis Tuckwell Hospice.
Jake will be supported throughout the challenge by Amelia Bateman-Wood and Sara Fitzgerald who will be walking with him at times.
He has already raised over £3,700 towards an original target of £4,500.
