Defibrillator 'goes missing' from Torquay seafront

A lifesaving defibrillator has disappeared from Torquay seafront

It was placed is missing from near Torre Abbey Gardens and has been used to help save lives

It was purchased by Torquay Rotary Club and was in a disused telephone kiosk close to Belgrave Road.

A Rotary spokesman said: “it was removed in early March which means that someone whose life could be saved by the defibrillator is now at far greater risk.

“In addition to it being a life saver the defibrillator could potentially be life endangering if in the wrong hands.”

The telephone kiosk was bought by Torquay Rotary Club and was refurbished by volunteer members in 2021.

A defibrillator costing approximately £1800.00 was then bought using charity funds raised by club members.

Since then, there have been several occasions when 999 has been called and the ambulance service has referred the caller to this defibrillator.

If you have any information about its whereabouts, please contact Torquayrotary1175@gmail.com in total confidence.
