St Marychurch property with stunning interior comes onto the market

In one of the prettiest parts of Torbay, the property hasn't been on the market for 15 years

St Marychurch property with stunning interior comes onto the market

3 Barewell Road is a period terraced house situated in the popular district of St Marychurch, just a short distance from the pedestrianised shopping precinct, schools, and local bus routes.

It presents a home of great character, tastefully enhanced by our clients while sympathetically retaining its olde world charm over the last fifteen years. At the top of the hill lies the comprehensive amenities of St Marychurch, offering a wide choice of shops and eateries, while the scenic Babbacombe Downs with shingle beaches below are equally accessible.
A host of schools are within a short walk, including Priory and St Margaret's Primaries right on the doorstep. Numerous leisure and sports clubs are close at hand, with Babbacombe Corinthian Sailing Club at the base of the pedestrian precinct, and Torquay Golf Club virtually a tee shot away.

Stepping inside the property, a panelled front door opens to the entrance hall with gas and electric meters.
An inner door leads to the sitting room, featuring a window to the front, wood-effect flooring, a feature stone fireplace currently housing an electric log-effect burning stove, and cupboards to either alcove with illuminated glass display cabinets over.
A wide archway leads to the dining room, continuing the wood-effect flooring theme, with understairs storage and a window overlooking the rear garden. The kitchen is fitted with a modern range of units and wood-effect working surfaces with an inset sink. There's space for a cooker with an extractor hood above, provision for a washing machine, and space for a fridge/freezer. A tiled floor, window overlooking the rear garden, and a half-glazed door giving access to the garden complete this space.

From the dining room, stairs rise to the first-floor landing with an airing cupboard housing the Vaillant gas-fired boiler. Bedroom 1 features a window to the front and a built-in double wardrobe with a hanging rail and shelving over. Bedroom 2 has wood flooring and a window to the rear.
The bathroom is equipped with a white suite comprising a 'P' shaped bath with an electric shower over, a large vanity unit with drawers beneath, and a WC. Part-tiled walls, a heated towel rail, a tiled floor, and a large obscure glazed window complete the bathroom.

From the kitchen, a door leads directly onto a decked terrace with a pergola, leading through to a further garden area laid to shingle with a raised rockery planted with a range of plants and shrubs.
The current owners, who have lived in the property for 15 years, said the house was 'love at first sight'.
They said: "I purchased 3 Barewell Road fifteen years ago now, when I initially moved here I didn’t know the area very well but stumbled upon Babbacombe and St Marychurch, I can honestly say it was love at first sight especially when I came across the precinct it had a lovely village feel to it and I promised myself that I would buy a house there once mine had sold.
"When I first entered the cottage I was greeted by a very serene feeling almost like the property wanted to look after you, maybe something to do with the thickness of the walls and the cosy homely feel. I immediately put an offer in and was successful. I love the fact that within a five minute walk you reach the precinct with all the local shops you could wish for and parking is unrestricted too. I also love the fact that you can get onto the South West coast path and down to the beach it’s superb for walking our two collies.
"The road itself is quiet and all the neighbours are great because the houses opposite are back from the road it feels like there is loads of space between the houses and you are not living on top of any of the neighbours.
"Our garden provides a brilliant sun trap and BBQ area completely private and very peaceful. My husband and I will miss the cottage but due to family ties we need to move closer to them, we have really enjoyed all the renovation projects and feel we have really improved an already beautiful home and shall miss it and all the neighbours greatly."
