The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for Devon as periods of heavy rain are forecasted to sweep across the region, starting from 2am tomorrow (February 8) until 6am Friday (February 9).

With this alert in place, residents are urged to prepare for potential disruptions, particularly in transportation systems.

Anticipated weather patterns carry the risk of flooding, which will cause concerns for homes and businesses in low-lying areas.

Commuters should prepare for longer journey times as bus and train services are likely to be impacted by the adverse conditions.

Additionally, motorists are advised to exercise caution on the roads, where spray and flooding may occur, potentially leading to delays and hazardous driving conditions.

In light of the warning, drivers are reminded to adjust their speed according to the conditions, using their wipers as a gauge for safe driving practices.

The Met Office has stressed the importance of proactive measures, such as delaying journeys during heavy downpours and opting for main roads to minimise exposure to risks.
